Product Introduction

Perlite cenospheres are white-gray hollow glassy spheres that appear smooth, thin-walled, and semi-transparent under a microscope. With low density and high thermal resistance (≥1610°C), they are widely used in lightweight refractory castables and oil drilling operations. The growing environmental concerns have led to rising prices for traditional fly ash cenospheres, making artificial cenospheres a cost-effective alternative for optimizing construction processes and reducing costs. These hollow particles, primarily composed of silica (SiO2) and alumina (Al2O3), offer various advantages such as being lightweight, high-strength, insulating, and resistant to heat and wear.

Product Features

  • High Refractoriness: Perlite cenospheres have a refractoriness between 1600-1700°C, owing to their high SiO2 (50-65%) and Al2O3 (25-35%) content.
  • Lightweight & Insulating: Their thin-walled, hollow structure with a semi-vacuum core gives them excellent insulating properties, with a bulk density of 250-450 kg/m³ and a thermal conductivity of 0.08-0.1 W/m·K.
  • High Strength & Hardness: Formed from hard glassy minerals (quartz and mullite), cenospheres have a hardness of 6-7 Mohs and a compressive strength of 70-140 MPa.
  • Electrical Insulation: Unlike most materials, their electrical resistance increases with rising temperatures, making them excellent for insulating applications.
  • Fine Particle Size: Naturally occurring with particle sizes between 1-250 microns and a surface area of 300-360 g/cm², they are readily usable without additional grinding.
