Product Introduction

Expanded Perlite is a lightweight, non-toxic, white granular material derived from volcanic glass. The perlite ore is crushed, preheated, and rapidly heated to high temperatures (1000°C – 1300°C), expanding its volume by 4 to 30 times. This process transforms the ore into a highly porous, non-metallic mineral product with a honeycomb-like structure. Expanded perlite’s unique physical properties, including its excellent thermal insulation, fire resistance, and lightweight nature, make it ideal for a wide range of industrial and environmental applications.

Product Features

  • Lightweight and PorousExpanded perlite is extremely lightweight due to its porous honeycomb structure, making it easy to handle, transport, and apply across industries.
  • Superior Thermal InsulationWith a low thermal conductivity (0.0245 to 0.175 W/(m·K)), expanded perlite is an exceptional thermal insulator, perfect for use in construction, roofing, and industrial insulation applications.
  • Fire ResistanceNaturally fireproof, expanded perlite is non-combustible and can withstand extreme temperatures, making it a key material for fireproofing buildings and industrial systems.
  • Chemical StabilityResistant to both strong acids and alkalis, expanded perlite is environmentally friendly with a neutral pH (6.5-7.5), ensuring its safe use in various industries.
  • Multi-Purpose Porous StructureThe porous structure provides excellent water retention and air permeability, promoting healthy root growth in horticulture and enabling perlite to act as a filtration and adsorption medium in industrial applications.

Product Specifications

  • 20-30 mesh (2-4mm), 6kg per bag: Primarily used for insulating boards, seedling cultivation, soilless farming, soil conditioning, pesticide slow-release agents, roof insulation, fireproof coatings for steel structures, and backfilling bathroom floors.
  • 30-50 mesh (1-2mm), 5kg per bag: Ideal for internal and external wall insulation, roof insulation, and thin-layer fireproof coatings for steel structures.
  • 50-70 mesh (0.8mm), bulk density of 40-70 kg/m³: Frequently used in lightweight concrete, oxygen separation equipment, lightweight gypsum mortars, insulation putty, and industrial cleaning products like perlite hand soaps.
  • 70-90 mesh (0.4mm), bulk density of 40 kg/m³: Used as a lightweight aggregate to improve mortar workability, reduce shrinkage, and increase overall product performance. It can also be applied in new building materials or as a partial substitute for floating beads in refractory materials.
  • 90-120 mesh: Specifically designed for oil well cementing applications, this grade of closed-cell perlite is used for insulating and protecting oil well casings.

Product Applications

  • Construction and InsulationExpanded perlite is used extensively in construction materials as thermal insulation for walls, roofs, and floors. Its fire-resistant properties make it suitable for fireproofing buildings and industrial systems.
  • Horticulture and AgricultureIn horticulture, expanded perlite improves soil aeration, drainage, and water retention, making it ideal for soilless cultivation and as a soil conditioner for healthy plant growth.
  • Industrial Filtration and AdsorptionExpanded perlite is commonly used as a filtration aid and adsorbent in wastewater treatment, food processing, and pharmaceutical applications.
  • Environmental ApplicationsPerlite is widely used in oil spill cleanups due to its strong absorption capacity and is also effective in purifying wastewater.
  • Lightweight AggregatesPerlite is used as a lightweight aggregate in construction materials, such as concrete and mortar, to improve strength, reduce material weight, and enhance thermal insulation properties.
